The Prescription for Innovation is Kentucky’s comprehensive plan to accelerate technology growth, particularly in the areas of broadband service and technology use. ConnectKentucky is implementing the program through a very successful public-private partnership. The initiative has seen great success and continues to earn recognition as a national model. Last year, ConnectKentucky and Kentucky’s Prescription for Innovation received the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s 2006 Excellence in Innovation Award which recognizes national leaders in innovative strategies for economic development.

eCommunity Strategies

One of the key goals of the Prescription for Innovation when it was announced in 2004 was for ConnectKentucky to establish eCommunity Leadership Teams in every county. Now, all 120 counties in Kentucky have an established eCommunity Leadership Team. ConnectKentucky’s technology planning specialists (eCommunity Strategists) have worked with these teams to develop comprehensive technology growth plans that involve many sectors of the community, including healthcare, education and local government. The plans are a milestone in that each Kentucky county now has a tactical plan to address their own challenges related to technology growth.

Now that Kentucky’s communities are ready to act on their plans, ConnectKentucky’s eCommunity Strategies is available to assist in the implementation process as outlined in each county’s technology report. eCommunity Strategies provides technology consulting to communities across the Commonwealth through ConnectKentucky’s well known team of technology experts.
