ConnectKentucky continues to be the trusted technology resource forKentucky communities. Our eCommunity Strategies Team assisted communities in developing their Strategic Technology Plans. Now the Team focus is on implementing these technology plans through the work of the eCommunity Leadership Teams.
Nearly three years ago, ConnectKentucky was asked to spearhead the Prescription for Innovation initiative. Today, the results of that work are unprecedented. The model used by ConnectKentucky for broadband deployment and technology growth has garnered national recognition and it’s lead to national legislation, new leaders, innovative programs and a bright outlook for the future.
The eCommunity Strategies group continues to work with Kentucky communities to enrich their homes, businesses and schools with technology resources that both enhance their quality of life and better equip them to compete in today’s global economy.
The state of Kentucky continues to make great strides in broadband deployment and technology advancement. We are now at 94 percent broadband availability across the Commonwealth.
We’re hard at work to accomplish full broadband deployment by the close of 2007. For an update on the recent progress made, the statewide maps showing broadband coverage and number and density of unserved households per Census block have been updated on our website, http://connectkentucky.org/Mapping/.
Spring is officially here in Kentucky! The season of beauty and growth has been highlighted by ConnectKentucky’s recent release of broadband coverage statistics and state technology metrics. To date, approximately 504,000 additional households have received broadband access since the launch of the Prescription for Innovation in 2004. More than 14,500 technology jobs have been created in Kentucky over the last two years. Since the launch of the state’s initiative, broadband coverage has grown from approximately 60% of households to 92% representing a 53% gain – which translates to 1.2 million Kentuckians who have received broadband access since that time.
